Football, football, football (continued)...

Well, Arsenal secured a top-four spot yesterday and European Champions League football for next season, with a comfortable 3-0 win over Portsmouth.
OK, fourth place behind Man Utd, Liverpool & Chelski is nothing to be proud of perhaps, but earlier this season Aston Villa was making this scenario look like a distant dream.

Anyway, on to Tuesday night and the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Man U.
All I ask for is that the Arsenal team turns up. While there's no shame in losing, what happened at Old Trafford in the first leg was unacceptable.
Portsmouth 0-3 Arsenal

PS:
What's the difference between Alan Shearer and Newcastle?
Shearer will be on Match Of The Day next season.

Seriously though, Newcastle fans should take a look at Norwich City, Southampton and Charlton Athletic, who will be plying their trade in the third tier of English football next season, after being relegated from the Championship.
All three clubs were in the Premiership four years ago. And 16 years ago, Norwich caused a huge upset in European football when they beat the mighty Bayern Munich 1–2 in the UEFA Cup.

The decline of these teams should be a stark warning to all of us that no team has a divine right to be in the Premiership.
