The return of LDM?

Well, it's only speculation at this stage, but it seems former adult glamour model Linsey Dawn McKenzie is no longer content with retirement since her breast reduction surgery.
She is supposedly working on new material for the Sport.

John Terry jokes...

It appears the joke factory following John Terry's misfortune in Moscow is in full swing...
Champions League: John Terry jokes on web

To recap: JT fluffed his penalty kick in the Champions League final which would have made Chelski European champions instead of Man U (although if his team-mate Didier Drogba had kept his head instead of getting sent off, things might have been different). Since then, if you google "John Terry jokes" you'll find the following rib-ticklers:

My grandad has arthritis in both wrists.
We've nicknamed him John Terry....as they are both useless w@nkers

Chelsea are going to market John Terry Vodka.
Made in England but bottled in Moscow

The Verve have released a tribute song to John Terry after his penalty blunder.
It's called "The Studs Don't Work"....

Heard about the John Terry tyre? Excellent durability, but not so good in the wet...

Ryan Giggs has said the European cup is like a chocolate orange....its not Terry's, it mine.

John Terry used to be Mister Chelsea.
Now he's Mister Penalty...

Tiger Tiger burning bright...

Belated congrats to Hull City A.F.C and welcome to the top flight for the first time in their 104-year history.
Hull defeated Bristol City in the Championship play-off final at Wembley yesterday, thanks to a spectactular volley by their 39-year-old striker Dean Windass, which has been claimed to be worth up to £60 million in what has been dubbed "the richest game in world football".
Have fun next season Hull fans, and enjoy the experience. As long as your team don't take points from Arsenal, feel free to beat the rest of the Premier League.

The road to Eurovision 2008 (continued)

Russia won this year's Eurovision Song Contest for the first time, thanks to singer Dima Bilan - but "X Factor" runner-up Andy Abraham (representing the UK) came joint last.
I thought Andy's song was half-decent. It certainly didn't deserve joint last (heck, it was better than Daz Sampson's ditty a couple of years ago), but with voting that would do Robert Mugabe proud, he didn't stand a chance...
Russia scoops Eurovision victory

And the next Chelski manager is....

From the BBC:

Chelsea have sacked manager Avram Grant after just eight months in charge. The decision followed two days of talks between Grant, 53, and the club's chief executive Peter Kenyon.
Grant sacked as Chelsea manager

So, despite finishing second in the Premier League, runners-up in the Carling Cup and one penalty kick away from being European champions, Grant follows the self-proclaimed "Special One" through the exit door and the Chelski hot seat is vacant once again. But when you invest as much as Chelski's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has in his club (approx £578 million since his takeover back in July 2003), I guess being second is nowhere.

While Grant's "dead man walking" demeanour didn't help, I still feel a bit sorry for the guy. Following in José Mourinho's footsteps was a tall order anyway...

The road to Eurovision 2008 (continued)

Well tonight's the night - the Eurovision Song Contest final in Belgrade.
Still sorry to hear that Ireland's Dustin the Turkey, failed to qualify though (the glove puppet was kicked out at the semi-final stage during this week).
Oh well - good luck to the other turkeys - sorry, contestants.....

Football, football, football (continued)...

Manchester United clinch the Champions League after beating Chelsea 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out, following a 1-1 draw.
Man Utd win in dramatic shoot-out

Oh well, bad luck Chelski (although I don't have any sympathy for a certain Ca$hley in your ranks).
And (grudging) congrats to the Red Devils!

PS: first joke seen about John Terry's penalty miss (geez - that was quick)...

In my opinion (continued)...

On the other hand, I simply love this picture of adult actress Alexis Silver (born October 27th, 1979). It focuses on her face, which I feel is overlooked in her line of work...

In my opinion...

Keeley Rebecca Hazell (born 18th September 1986) is one of Britain’s most popular glamour models, appearing in various magazines and newspapers. But this picture is not a favourite of mine.

Unfortunately Keeley just comes across as yet another model or celebrity who attempts (and usually fails) to capture the essence of Hollywood actresses in famous poses - in this case, screen icon Audrey Hepburn.
To me the mystique - the magic - is just missing. While glamour model Keeley Hazell is able to capture the pose, it's just that - a pose.

Harry's game....

Portsmouth win the FA Cup as Kanu's 37th-minute strike gives them a 1-0 win over Cardiff at Wembley.

Well done Pompey...and comiserations to Cardiff City. Ok, the 'experts' won't describe today's match as a "classic Cup Final" - but neither was last year's with Man U and Chelski.
And congrats to the Portsmouth manager, Harry Redknapp, for winning the first major trophy of his footballing career.

Football, football, football...

As much as it pains me to say this, congratulations to Manchester United. They were the best team this season.
But dammit - Arsenal were only 4 measly points away from them this season! We were within touching distance of the Premiership trophy, until that fateful match against Birmingham on 23rd February 2008.
Still, if you told me at the beginning of the 2007/08 season we would finish in third place, four points from being declared champions, I'd probably had accepted it. Looking back then, the considered opinion was that the Gunners were going to finish outside the top four places, and behind Spurs!!!!

Still, for manager Arsène Wenger, his problem is now keeping this talented Arsenal team together and building wisely on that talent, while still avoiding paying inflated wages. With Mathieu Flamini off to Milan (good luck and thanks for your time at Arsenal, Matt), and Alexander Hleb being reportedly courted by Inter, we could be faced with yet another season of rebuilding. Can Arsenal maintain their current wage structure, which is way below our direct competitors (both european and domestic)?

And let us not forget the vexed takeover issue - following the recent resignation of Arsenal's managing director Keith Edelman, speculation rumbles on about the intentions of American Stanley Kroenke, who is the third largest share holder in the club and Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who currently holds a 24% share.

Oh well - no point in looking back on what ifs, lets look ahead to next season, hopefully with vital lessons learned....

PS: Well done, Arsenal ladies, for clinching their fifth Women's Premier League title and retaining the Women's FA Cup this season...

Thriller - 25 years on

I remember watching the special TV presentation of MJ's "Thriller" video in a darkened living room with my brothers - it blew us away. I also recall how my mates and I tried to copy the dance moves from the video (with varying degrees of success).

Michael Jackson's Thriller went on to become one of the bestselling albums of all time, winning eight Grammy Awards, selling between 45 and 100 million copies worldwide and its importance to popular music has been compared to the advent of Elvis Presley and the Beatles. While MJ's personal life has been somewhat...controversial, one can't deny that "Thriller" is a masterpiece.
Last month, twenty-five years after its groundbreaking release, the video was commemorated by the American Film Institute and earlier this year, the album was remixed, repackaged and re-released to celebrate its silver-anniversary (a waste of time, in my opinion. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but I digress)....

Anyway, we all know what became of the "King of Pop" since the release of Thriller....but what of his co-star, Playboy model and actress Ola Ray? Apparently she was paid just £600 for her role as MJ's "girlfriend" for the 14 minute pop promo.

Ola also had a role in "Beverly Hills Cop II" alongside Eddie Murphy, but was charged for cocaine possession in 1992 and spent some time in rehab. Now 47 years old, Ola currently lives in Sacramento, California with her daughter, and is a full-time mother with plans to take up a singing career and write a book.

Oh dear, Gordon (continued)...

So, less than a year after taking office, Prime Minister Gordon Brown has delivered the Labour Party's worst election result for 40 years. One has to say "serves him right" - especially after the 10p tax debacle.
Labour's heavy losses in the local council elections around England and Wales was topped off with the news that Conservative Boris Johnson is the new mayor of London, thus ending Labour's Ken Livingstone's eight-year reign at City Hall.
I didn't vote in the London elections. As I said in an earlier entry, I've had my fill of celebrity politicians and none of the candidates for London mayor appealed to me.
Brian Paddick of the Lib-Dems had good ideas, but I just wished he showed more charisma. He came over as two-dimensional.
"Red" Ken must be ruing realigning himself with Labour. But I believe the congestion charge extension and accusations of corruption and cronyism also damaged him.
As for Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson....well, let's just say he will be an interesting political figure, to say the least. He's not afraid to speak his mind and he's now leader of one of the most important cities in the world.
Considering Boris apologised in public earlier this year for calling black people "piccaninnies" and referring to their "watermelon" smiles, if I were Tory leader David Cameron, I'd worry a bit, since Mr Johnson is now the most powerful elected Tory politician in the UK.
As for our PM - the vultures are starting to circle...
