A couple of days ago, the former England football manager Sir Bobby Robson died at the age of 76. Sir Bobby had been suffering from cancer for the last 15 years.
As a player, he won 20 England caps but it was as a manager where he achieved greater success. He managed a range of clubs including Newcastle United, Ipswich Town as well as teams in Europe.
He also took charge of England and led the team to two World Cups – taking England to the semi-finals in 1990. He was knighted in 2002 for his services to football.

I recall Sir Bobby took a lot of flak in the press during his time as England manager, and it's a shame that this genuinely decent man wasn't fully appreciated at the time. He was a gentleman who symbolized everything that's good about football.
