Goodbye Keith

Celebrity chef Keith Floyd has died after a heart attack at the age of 65.

Floyd, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in June, enjoyed a last meal of oysters and partridge, with champagne. The flamboyant chef shot to fame in the mid-1980s when he presented a series of ground-breaking cookery programmes, usually with a glass of red wine in his hand.
Obituary: Keith Floyd

He might have been labelled a "celebrity chef", but Keith Floyd was a maverick culinary genius, who showed that cooking could be fun without patronising the audience.
Apparently his last meal included:
  • Champagne with a cherry soaked in apple eau de vie, £11.50
  • A glass of Pouilly Vinzelles 2006 Burgundy, £49 a bottle
  • Oysters with potted shrimp and toast, £12.70
  • Two glasses Fils Cotes de Rhône 2007, £21.50 a bottle
  • Red Legged partridge with bread sauce, £21.50
  • Pear cider made into jelly, £6.50
I suppose it was fitting that he'd passed away after dining in such style.
RIP
